The dashin technique, unique to Japan, was reportedly invented by a Buddhist monk, Mubunsai in the Muromachi period (1336-1573). Historically this technique involved the use of a small wooden mallet which would strike a thick gold or silver surioroshi-shaped (tapered) needle that was placed on the abdomen. However, Japanese acupuncturists have been experimenting with this technique with some modern modifications to meet our sensitivity. The popularity of dashin technique in Japan has been restored due to this modification.

This seminar is to introduce the dashin technique to beginners by presenting this unique method of acupuncture as well as a totally different treatment philosophy. Hideo Takahashi introduces the modernized version of the dashin technique which uses a brass teishin and a small ebony mallet and demonstrates how this method can be applied in your daily practice. By the end of this seminar, you should feel confident and comfortable in treating your patients’ abdomen and satisfied with the positive impacts you provided to your patients.
